The Endless Road Continues...

Εικόνα
Starting Module Two and on occasion of the Skype session we are going to have on Sunday 29th on Knowing and Learning, I reflect on my previous blog post from Module One on the same topic: Knowledge for me is an endless road. It is the path of life. This road has many pathways(experiences-empiricisms), that I, myself, as a runner follow and experience. This road is endless and leads to infinity. Whether we move forward on this road, whether we stagnate for a long or short time, or whether we are stepping backwards, we observe and know ourselves and, by extension, the world around us. Without identifying ourselves with the facts, we continuously react to the challenges of life by truly experiencing. Thus, we begin conciusly to act, feel, think and become the true masters of our lives . ''I know that I know nothing'' , the great philosopher Socrates said, and that brings us to another great Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who said ''Ta panta rei...

Reflection and Ethics

Εικόνα
In today's Skype discussion, we talked about reflection and ethical considerations. Reflection Reflection is a way about learning from experience. It involves looking back at our experiences, whether positive or negative, and then looking forward to future activities and considering how we might do things differently as a result of our reflection. Personally, I see reflection as a procedure of autobiography of our soul. These are our personal stories and experiences that make us realise who we are and how we should behave in different situations. On occasion of Module One and by writing my Areas of Learning essays, I realise how much retrospection on the past and reflection on the present have influenced me and ultimately aided in developing my personality. Looking at myself from another perpective and as a critic of my behaviour, actions and circumstances I portrayed in the past, I see how important self-reflection is in the evolution of my personality, both profession...

The Endless Road

In today's morning Skype discussion we talked about two important topics: Knowledge and Communication.  Knowledge for me is an endless road. ''I know that I know nothing'' , the great Greek philosopher Socrates said, and that brings us to another great Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who said ''Ta panta rei'' - Everything flows/ Everything is in motion. The more we ''run...

Beginnings

In our lives, we periodically make new beginnings and these beginnings bring us to new unexplored paths that lead to undiscovered treasures. ''Well begun is half done'' the ancient Greeks said and that means that the decision to begin something is already as if you are in the middle of your destination. That is excactly how I feel. When I begin something, I envision as I am already halfway there. My official beginning as a professional ballerina was at the age of seventeen, when I signed my first contract at the National Theatre of Belgrade, Serbia in September 2014. My energetic beginning was my first performance as a professional ballerina on October 15th 2014. I danced in all four acts of Swan Lake  as a member of the corps de ballet. I was very excited and happy and I was recalling all my efforts and hard work of the years before. It was my dream since the age of three and that day, it had already become reality. My next beginning in my career was when I sta...

Introduction

Hello everyone at MAPP! My name is Jovanka Zarić and I am starting my MAPP in Dance. I am Greek/Serbian and I am currently a soloist at the ballet company of the National Theatre of Belgrade, Serbia. I was born and raised in Greece and I took my first ballet steps at my mother's ballet school in Greece. At the age of fifteen, I moved to Serbia to study at the National Ballet School of Belgrade. I graduated in 2015. In 2014, and while still at school, I started my professional dance career at the National Theatre of Belgrade, as the youngest member of the company. I am really happy and excited to start this journey of studying at Middlesex University. Studying this Master's degree will help me by providing the appropriate skills by letting me delve deeper into the world of dance and by broadening my knowledge at a higher academic level. It will take me a step closer to my goals and dreams and it will help me develop both as an artist and as a person. Good luck to every...
