The Endless Road
In today's morning Skype discussion we talked about two important topics: Knowledge and Communication.
Knowledge for me is an endless road. It is the path of life.
This road has many pathways(experiences-empiricisms), that I, myself, as a runner follow and experience. This road is endless and leads to infinity.
Whether we move forward on this road, whether we stagnate for a long or short time, or whether we are stepping backwards, we observe and know ourselves and, by extension, the world around us. Without identifying ourselves with the facts, we continuously react to the challenges of life by truly experiencing. Thus, we begin conciusly to act, feel, think and become the true masters of our lives.
''I know that I know nothing'', the great Greek philosopher Socrates said, and that brings us to another great Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who said ''Ta panta rei''- Everything flows/ Everything is in motion.
The more we ''run'', the more we learn; the more we learn, the more we realise we know nothing. We learn as long as we live.

Communication satisfies our internal needs, our physical and social survival. Through communication we try to feel secure, have value for others, get the right relationships, give and get information, express ourselves and understand the world.
There are many ways of communication, but in my experience as a professional ballet dancer I will focus on the important role of the non-verbal communication- body language. Our expression, our movements and gestures tell us a story, while the voice may be telling us another one. Throughout this communication on stage we are able to transmit to the audience a whole story. We, dancers, by nature communicate through body language to express our emotions and thoughts and that makes us feel more confortable and free. It is also very important for us that the teachers and choreographers communicate with positivity and smile, because this motivates us to perform better and achieve better results.
Therefore, communication and knowledge are, as I wrote above, an endless road with many pathways(learnings and communication) where as we continue, we discover even more until we reach infinity.
This is a lovely sentiment Jovanka. This course has not only made me reflect on my past career but also opened out my learning for the future. Hope you are enjoying it as much as me x

ΔιαγραφήHi Jovanka, I really like your post and thinking of knowledge as an endless road. What I like about this course is, that it keeps on opening new ways of looking at something.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThank you for you kind words! I am glad that you liked my post!
ΔιαγραφήHello Jovanka! Thank you for sharing this lovely post. I find that it is so poetic...I truly liked that you added the importance of communication regarding teachers and choreographers. I also come from a strict classical background and for a long time our classes were limited to an authoritarian style of communication that awoken a great deal of feelings of inadequacy and shame in dancers with a sense of self in formation. The interesting thins is that our words do shape our reality and through our perceptions may be transformative in nature.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήI enjoyed reading this very much, I hope to read from you again soon!
Thank you very much for your kind words Marianella. I am glad that you enjoyed reading my post. I totally agree with what you write. A healthy environment and healthy and respectful communication is the key to success in the relationships between each other in the world of dance.
